With this website I am sure that the public will be able to access, interact and get to know the Ministry of Land Use and Housing with reference to its vision, mission, objectives and functions.
Our mandate is to facilitate the national socio economic development of the Republic of Seychelles through the sustainable and efficient use of its land resources for housing, economic, social and infrastructure needs through effective policy framework, regulations and provision of ancillary technical services.
We hope to achieve this by creating a vibrant, sustainable living environment and building rooted and cohesive communities. Core values such as professionalism, high organization esteem, team work and staff development provides a firm base for the delivery of the expected level of services which should result in a positive difference in the lives of the people we serve.
Land, as a physical resource, is multi-dimensional. On the one hand, it supports human habitation, industry and infrastructure. On the other, it provides a number of essential ecological and related services such as water storage, capture of solar energy and providing a substrate for the growth of forests. Land is also essential for the rearing of crops and livestock for human habitation. Finally, for many, land is also an investment for the long term and future generation.
Seychelles, with a total land area of only 455 square kilometres, faces an obvious constraint, imposed by nature. The need to strike a balance between meeting the economic and social needs of its population and maintaining environmental integrity becomes, in many ways, more challenging, on a small island.
Our specificity though also offers opportunities to achieve synergy by more easily bringing key stakeholders and institutions together.
This website will strive to ensure all information pertaining to our Ministry and its affiliate agencies are up to date, by listing all the available on line and off line services for the benefit of the users.
We also welcome your ideas and constructive criticisms which you can channel through our email. Together we can improve this service and help it evolve to meet the changing needs of our society.
It is my sincere hope that this website fulfills the needs of the people of Seychelles and provides an alternative mode of communication to the public.
